As a photographer, you have two goals. The first is to make your client happy. The second is your personal goal for the shoot. This is a very important but oft times lost element of a photoshoot. My personal goal is to get at least one shot during a photo shoot that rings true to me. Something that I look at and say, “now that is an image that says something to me”. These are usually not the best photos from a technical perspective but that is ok. As long as it meets my personal goal for the shoot. This is one of those shots, Puddle of Mudd lead singer Wes Scantlin. Knowing his struggles with fame and his well-documented personal demons, this image speaks to me of how blinding the spot light can be and he is caught in it. Sad really because he has so much talent and we have seen this all before.
